Gripper for railway wheels

        Challenge

For loading and unloading an ultrasonic test bath, a gripper needed to be developed that gripped railway wheels up to a weight of 1.2 metric tons and submerged them in a test basin.
        Solution

This special gripper design is driven entirely by electrical power. Both the gripper stroke and rotary drive are powered by a servo motor. Furthermore, the gripper jaws were protected against the ingress of liquids into the test basin using special sealing.
